Just Something I Wrote

In fear of losing my street cred (given I am an OG), over the years I have been known to write a poem or two. (In the streets, we call them “cold hard raps for the ladies”) I havent written one in about 10 years, and a couple of weeks back, this one jumped into my brain. I honestly hope more come around, mostly because I like writing them. What? Want battle in prose? I’ll cut ya.

Anyway, in all seriousness, here it is (thank god there are no comments):

the purity of control
a simple smile brings
when it crests across your eyes
as the intensity is lost
to the memory of time
a quick smirk flirting
with a full blown grin
hides when the weight of sadness
crests across your eyes
Its no matter if
intent comes with that smile
because it traps me between
fear and love,
between yes and no
so I spend time
wondering if you are
spending time
remembering the ease
or forgetting the hard
because its the purity
connecting our smiles
to our beginnings
as we discuss and contemplate
the possibilities

Be Sweet - The Afghan Whigs

“Ladies, let me tell you about myself

I got a dick for a brain

And my brain is gonna sell my ass to you

Now I’m OK, but in time I’ll find I’m stuck

‘Cause she wants love, and I still want to fuck”

Is this really just another BlogHer 08 wrap up post?

Um…kinda.

I am not going to talk about the sessions (well, maybe one), or the parties (well, maybe one), but mostly about the one thing that…

BlogHer Day 1 - I Was Right; I Was Wrong → feeds.feedburner.com

I am often chided for always being right. I am unsure of why people think that being right all the time is a bad thing, but hey, who am I to tell them something different.

When I am wrong, tho, I…

Wouldnt It Be Cool If… → feeds.feedburner.com

I have been reading books and watching movies that seem to center on the concept of anarchy or individual rule making. Books like Wanted (not the movie) and Diceman are great examples of this….

Dammit Jim, Im a Doctor Not A Miracle Worker! → feeds.feedburner.com

Patience Grasshopper → feeds.feedburner.com

Last week, I wrote about personal change. The change I was attempting to enact was one of understanding the grey areas in things.

Interesting effort, not done by any stretch.

Damn, its hard.
